Onoclea Sensibilis Sensitive Fern
Onoclea Sensibilis | Sensitive Fern
Onoclea Sensibilis, also known as the Sensitive Fern, displays long-stemmed pale green fronds, and unlike many perennial ferns is actually very sensitive to frost, hence the name. This accommodating fern will grow in fairly dry ground as well as damper areas where it can spread in a dense carpet over the water surface. Onoclea Sensibilis grows best around ponds in slightly dry to damp mud, but not water-logged ground, in a sheltered position. Tidy old foliage as required. The Sensitive Fern is often grown for decoration around ponds.
