Red Scat’s are a very lively brackish/ saltwater tropical fish. They are very lively so need a large tank to swim freely in. They will need shady places in the aquarium however they will eat live plants so you can use plastic plants. They will need a good filter and pump to increase the flow.

Ease of care
Intermediate. Juveniles may be kept in brackish waters; adults do best in full marine conditions. You will need a hydrometer to test the salinity of the water. Good water quality is essential.
Diet
Flake, green flake, sinking pellets and frozen or live foods. They are relatively unfussy.
Compatibility
They are a specialist community fish. They should be in a species only aquarium or with similar sized brackish fish when juvenile.
Breeding/ Sex
Unknown in home aquaria. Only happens in the wild.
Life Span
They can live to anything from 15-20 years in perfect conditions.
